TROPICAL STORM IRENE

Keynote speaker: John P. Farrell Jr., Director Greene County Dept. of Emergency Services, Cario, NY

This presentation will cover the days before Tropical Storm Irene hit Greene County and the necessary preparations that took place within the county. We will review the actual events that took place during the first 72 hours, including the need for major mutual aid, swiftwater rescue teams and the National Guard. The loss of radio communications for dispatching fire and EMS on the mountaintop (seven towns, 10 fire companies and five EMS agencies) and how we managed will also be addressed.
